“I’m so excited to have been chosen as the new Girls Athletic Coordinator for Teague ISD,” exclaims Coach Chris Nickleberry, Sr. “My coaching staff and I are ready to help these kids reach their highest potential.”

Coach Nickleberry is well known in the Teague School District, working with students for the past fifteen years as a Track, Cross Country, and Basketball coach. He is also an instructor at the Lion Academy.

Following the resignation of the previous coordinator, Coach Lauren Saldana, Nickleberry was named to the position beginning the 2019-2020 school year.

“I’m inheriting a great program. Coach Saldana did a wonderful job,” explains Coach Nickleberry. “My goal is to continue building and growing what she already started.”

Coach Nickleberry is a 1999 graduate of Teague High School.

He attended Navarro College and Texas A&M Commerce to earn degrees in Business and Education.

Beginning his career at Teague ISD in 2004 as maintenance, he quickly worked his way up to coaching; two years with the boys, and the remaining time with the girls.

“I’m so ready to get started and to see what the future holds!” he concluded.

In addition to working for Teague ISD, Nickleberry also sits on the Board of Alderman for the City of Teague, and has done so since 2010.

He has four children, two daughters who recently graduated Teague High School, and another young daughter and a son.

Congratulations on your promotion!
