The new district boundaries map (above) for the Texas House of Representatives has now been passed by both chambers and is headed for the Governor’s desk for final approval.

Given the massive population growth in the urban areas and other factors, the East Texas House districts all had to shift East. I am so sad to tell you that I will no longer be able to represent Hill or Freestone Counties. It has been a tremendous honor getting to know the great people in these two counties over the last 4 years and I want to thank you for placing your trust in me to be your voice in Austin. These two counties will now be part of a brand new, open district comprised entirely of Central Texas rural counties.

Moving forward, House District 8 will be comprised of Anderson, Cherokee, part of Henderson, and Navarro Counties. I greatly look forward to meeting the good folks in these new areas in the near future and earning your vote to represent you.

Taylor and I have made so many true friends in Hill and Freestone, and we are so disappointed to lose you. Thank you for your friendship, for your overwhelming support, and for the countless hours so many of you have put into our campaigns. We love you and I will always be someone you can call on.

State Representative Cody Harris
