Trey Thomason, known professionally as Gringo Loko, is preparing to release MEMORIA: Every Song Has a Story on May 29, 2026.
Thomason, a former Wortham state champion cross country runner, has since built a unique path as an international bilingual recording artist whose music blends Texas hip-hop, reggaeton, and Latin urban influences shaped by years of travel and time spent in Medellín, Colombia.
His upcoming documentary follows the story behind his song “Memoria,” created in Medellín, and the larger lessons that came from the experience around authorship, copyright, documentation, artist rights, and protecting creative work as an independent artist.
The project arrives during a season of growing international recognition for Thomason. On April 30, 2026, he was announced as the winner of Mejor Artista Revelación Urbano Emergente at Premios Fenix.
For Thomason, MEMORIA: Every Song Has a Story is more than a music documentary. It is a story about pressure, resilience, ownership, and the moment an artist must decide whether to stay quiet or stand on what he created.
“This was never just about one song,” Thomason said. “It became a lesson in ownership, documentation, and standing on what you create.”
