“Honestly, it started with my mom,” explains Dr. David Lott (right), owner of Lott Physical Therapy & Fitness Center, as they celebrate 25 years in business.

“My mom was a teacher who worked with special needs children, and through that work she became aware of how powerful physical therapy could be in transforming someone’s quality of life,” he says. “She encouraged me to volunteer at a local PT clinic one summer, and that experience changed everything for me. I had always loved fitness and had a deep desire to help people with their health.”

He goes on to say, “Physical therapy turned out to be the perfect combination of both. It was a natural fit from the very first day. Opening my own practice was the next step in living out that calling. I wanted to build something that truly reflected my values and, most importantly, to serve the community that had given so much to me. Twenty-five years later, I can honestly say it was the best decision I ever made.”

David is a 1991 graduate of Fairfield High School, who went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree from SMU in 1995, “which set the foundation for everything that followed. But I knew I wasn’t done learning,” he says.

In 2007, David returned to Hardin-Simmons to earn a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. He believes that continuing to grow as a clinician is one of the most important things he can do for his patients.

In 1999, right on the courthouse square in Fairfield, David opened his first clinic, operating under the name Medical Arts Physical Therapy, and in 2001, he had the opportunity to purchase the practice and renamed it at that time to Lott Physical Therapy.

“Growth has always been driven by one thing for me – the desire to serve more people who need quality physical therapy care,” he explains. “After establishing ourselves in Fairfield, we expanded to Corsicana in 2012, which allowed us to reach patients throughout Navarro County. The, most recently, in 2024, we opened our newest location in Ennis.”

Ennis Clinic

Lott Physical Therapy & Fitness Center offers a comprehensive range of physical therapy services designed to help patients recover, rebuild strength, and return to the lives they love. Their core services include orthopedic and musculoskeletal rehabilitation, balance and fall prevention, post-surgical recovery, sports injury treatment, and pain management through hands-on manual therapy.

“What matters most to me is that every treatment plan is individualized,” says David. “No two patients are the same, and no two plans should be either. Whether someone is recovering from a hip replacement, rehabbing a sports injury, or managing chronic pain, we meet them exactly where they are and work with them toward goals that are meaningful to their daily life.”

He continues, “We believe that great physical therapy doesn’t stop when a patient leaves our clinic. That’s why we place a strong emphasis on patient education and long-term fitness. Our Fairfield and Corsicana locations have fitness centers available for the whole community to join – not just past patients! We also offer employment testing services to make sure other companies in the community are hiring right.”

The business is close to 25 providers strong across all three locations, and David couldn’t be prouder of the team they’ve built. “Building this team has been one of my greatest joys. I look for people who share our values – compassion, clinical excellence, and a genuine desire to make a difference in people’s lives,” he says.

When asked how it feels to have reached such a great milestone, he says, “It makes me feel old! But more than anything, it fills me with an enormous sense of pride and gratitude. None of this would have been possible without my family, who have been beside me every step of the way. This truly is a family business.”

He continues explaining, “My wife Lisa has been instrumental in the leadership and operations of the practice – she is the backbone of so much of what we do behind the scenes. Both my parents, and both our sons, each serve in vital roles that help keep our three locations running with the same care and intentionality we’ve always had. I often say that Lott Physical Therapy is a family serving families – and I mean that in every sense of the word. Reaching 25 years is as much their achievement as mine, and I am deeply grateful for each of them.”

To the patients and community, David says, “From the bottom of my heart – thank you. It has been the greatest honor of my professional life to serve this community. What makes Fairfield so special to me is that these are my people. I get to take care of the teachers who taught me, the parents of people I grew up with, and neighbors who have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. There is no greater privilege than that.”

“I won’t pretend it doesn’t come with a little extra pressure – because when you’re caring for people who are so personally dear to you, you want to make absolutely sure you’re giving them your very best,” he says. “But that pressure is a gift, because it pushes me to never settle for anything less than excellent care. As we’ve grown into Corsicana and Ennis, that same sense of purpose travels with us. I love being part of communities that are growing, and I love that we get to grow alongside them.”

David concludes by saying, “To every patient who has trusted us with their care – you are the reason we are here, and you are the reason we will be here for the next 25 years.”
