Dolly Parton was in town last week for a fun night at Desserts by MommaCakes to celebrate their Boos & Boo-Bies month, in honor of October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Several attendees donned their tallest, blonde wigs (and added a little padding) to show their appreciation for all things Dolly.

“Jolene was NOT invited,” said Dolly Parton (a.k.a. Emily Plemons of Tallulah Rey Boutique). The two put their differences aside to enjoy a bit of fun, a little music, and some friendly competition. (Courtesy Photo)

Even Jolene was persuaded to join in the fun, sparking some high ticket betting on who could use their boobs to their best advantage, as Dolly joined her nemesis in a unique game of balloon volleyball.

Then, there was a scavenger hunt for unusual items to help answer movie triva questions.

Pink curlers reminded fans of Dolly’s role as a hairdresser in “Steel Magnolias.” Hard Candy (Christmas) was a clue for her role as a madam in “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.”

Beautiful and delicious, appetizers for the evening were created by Bailey Nicole Carreno.

Attendees were also encouraged to bring large purses, filled with various items (because that’s what Dolly would do). They received extra tickets for having such things as hand sanitizer, a nail file, an energy bar, and more.

The evening was rounded out with encouragement to perform self checks on “the girls” and be up-to-date with mammogram screenings.

Sharing the importance of self checks and medical screenings for early detection of breast cancer is Jill Ferguson, a special guest at last week’s Dolly & Desserts event at Desserts by MommaCakes in Fairfield. (Photo by Karen Leidy)

The buttercreamery’s owner, Nicole Hughes, reminded everyone of their ongoing Boob-tastics activites for the month:

Hall of Boo-bies: Bring a bra to hang in the Hall of Boo-bies. You will have the opportunity to make a donation and hang a ribbon celebrating your battle, or that of a loved one’s. 100% of your donation will go to the Freestone Cancer Support Group to support those currently battling cancer.

Boo-bies in Need: Swing by to nominate someone you may know who would benefit from a Mammogram Screening (generously sponsored by Freestone Medical Center).

Also happening in October is a Cake & Cocktails – Fall Edition event on October 21st and Halloween High Tea on October 31st.
