Due to a technical issue, election returns took longer than usual in Freestone County.

“The program would not read the flash cards, so we had to enter the numbers manually,” stated County Clerk Linda Jarvis. Electronic votes are stored on flash cards in the voting machines.

While the technical difficulties did not affect the election outcome, it did slow the process of reporting votes to the State office.

“Using electronics instead of manual is quicker with less chance of error,” stated Freestone County Republican Chair, Doug Sanford, DVM.  “When the electronics fail and we go back to manual this is evident.”

Sanford continued by thanking the County Clerk and staff for overcoming the electronics during last week’s election.
