Teague ISD (Friday, January 23, 2026 4:00 PM)
Good afternoon,
Teague ISD is closely monitoring the forecast for severe winter weather expected to impact our area. The safety of our students and staff is our top priority. The storm has been upgraded to a Winter Storm Warning in the last few hours.
Weather Details
National weather forecasts, supported by our meteorologist, predict the arrival of unfavorable weather conditions beginning as early as Friday, January 23rd.
- Precipitation: Sleet is expected Saturday and accumulate between 0.05 and 3.0 inches. The latest Emergency Management meetings are starting to expect the high end of this.
- Temperatures: Temperatures are forecast to remain below freezing through Wednesday January 28th with low wind chill factors below zero degrees.
Current Schedule and Operation
- Extracurricular Activities: Due to the approaching weather, Teague ISD is canceling all events and activities scheduled from Friday evening through Monday morning. The only exception is for FFA members attending the cattle show in Ft. Worth.
Operation Changes:
- No School on Monday and late arrival on Tuesday (9:30)
Decision for Tuesday and Wednesday Morning:
The primary concern remains the potential for power outages and dangerous ice accumulation leading into Monday morning. At this time our main concern is the extreme low temperatures possibly affecting water and electricity. As conditions are highly unpredictable, Teague ISD will make a final decision regarding scheduling by the end of the day on Monday, January 26th.
We acknowledge that the Governor has declared a State of Emergency for the area. Please stay tuned for updates via official Teague ISD communication channels.
Be safe, and stay warm.
