One of the good things about this heat is that you can give your dogs a bath and even if you get soaking wet, it will soon dry up. Last week MO and Tasha got a bath. MO doesn’t mind getting a bath…but Tasha is another story. MO enjoys the water while Tasha is afraid of it. He got in the wash tub and sat down. She ran away when The Colonel called her, and he had to get the leash to bring her to the tub. Same thing happens when we cut her nails. We hold her down on the floor, I talk quietly and lovingly to her or else her nails would never get cut.
Back to the bath…she stood in the tub, but when the shampoo and more water came, she wanted out. The Colonel held her in the tub, talked to her but never let go of the leash. How in the world she ever managed to remain there, I don’t know. Probably because he has more strength holding on to the leash than I do. Finally, bath time was over, he took her out of the tub, holding on to her and dried her off. The leash was gone, and she ran.
MO began licking water off Tasha and when he was done, they both dug in the dirt. Plopped down, dirt all over them. So much for that bath. But in their defense, they both came up for a brushing and the dirt seemed to be more or less gone. Just an ordinary day at the Red Oak Ranch.
