Inattention while driving led to parts of East Reunion Street in Fairfield to be shut down most of the day on Friday, October 5, 2018.

Fairfield PD Officer Mary Bates responded to the scene of a wreck at about 10:30 a.m. that morning.

According to the report, driver Joanna Young was headed east on Reunion Street in her 2007 Lincoln when she reached for her cell phone, losing control of the vehicle.

She first hit a mailbox, and then collided with a utility pole located about 200 feet east of Dunbar Street, snapping the pole near the base.

Luckily, Ms. Young sustained no injuries.

The pole on the other hand, had to be replaced by Oncor, which took most of the day, causing a section of the road to be closed off during that time.
