On Sunday, October 14, the Wortham High School Chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) held its annual induction ceremony for their new members.

During the candle lighting ceremony, the NHS officers gave speeches over the four core values of the National Honor Society: Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character.

The new inductees were presented with NHS pins, and the current members were presented with NHS patches.

During the ceremony, the faculty adviser, Mrs. Havens, acknowledged some of the accomplishments during the 2017-2018 school year by the members.  These included almost 900 hours of community service and mentoring hours along will 300 jars of peanut butter collected during their food drive “Stick it to Hunger” in February.

Mr. Hayes, principal of Wortham High School, helped to present and congratulate all of the members of NHS.  A reception was also held after the induction to honor the new members.
