The Fairfield Police Department and City of Fairfield welcomed and swore in two new Police Officers during the Tuesday, June 9, 2026, meeting of City Council.

Cadets Dawn Morgan and Jake Pratt graduated Navarro Police Academy on June 6, 2026, and began patrol at Fairfield PD last week following their swearing in.

“We are so proud of these two and how well they performed at Academy,” says Police Chief Albert Gallegos, Jr. “We are glad to have them here and look forward to working with them.”

Also at this meeting, Council voted to approve the following:

–Minutes from the May 2 & May 12 council meetings.

–Mayor & Department Head Reports

–Spray Foam installation at the Green Barn/Civic Center to help with sound acoustics in the building. Three bids were received for this project and the lowest bid of $13,875 by Efficient Insulation Systems was accepted. Hotel/Motel Funds will be utilized for this cost. In the future, the city will be looking into possibly installing a sound system to even better enhance sound quality.

–A bid from Cash Money Services for approximately $18,750 to install a secure entrance for City Hall. This will include a wall with security door between the service windows for the water department/municipal court and the City Council open chamber. This addition is another safety measure to ensure staff safety. Only one bid was received for this project. Monies will come from the Building Maintenance Fund.

–Hotel/Motel Funds to be used for the purpose of installing a commercial fan in the existing pavilion at the fairgrounds. One quote was received from Big Ass Fans in the amount of $13,579.27.

–Resolution 2026-9-06 Investment Policy. The policy is the same as before; it was just up for renewal. No changes made.

–Re-appointment of Angela Oglesbee, Place 5, as Mayor Pro-Tem.

Council members include Bobby Nichols – Mayor, Bill Freeman – Place One, Kenny Hughes – Place 2, Rick Edgett – Place 3, Josh Bayless – Place 4, and Angela Oglesbee – Place 5.

Fairfield City Council meets on the second Tuesday of each month, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
