by Fairfield City Administrator – Nate Smith

Hello Fairfield! I am Nate Smith, the city administrator for Fairfield. With the help of our media partners, I am going to write a monthly column about city government and the information you want or need to know about. So this is the first issue of Nate’s Notes for our city.
I started in Fairfield last month and the time has flown by from that first day on January 7. Right away, I got to know the men and women that serve this city. Fairfield has many dedicated employees that work hard every day to provide services to you. I have been impressed with them so far and it makes my role as administrator easier as I settle into this position. I would like to use this opportunity to thank them for their service and help during this transition.
One of my goals for the first 90 days here in Fairfield is to continue introducing myself to the community. I’ve had the opportunity to visit with residents and leaders, and speak at several organizations.
Also, after some help from Facebook, we got the City of Fairfield’s Facebook Page back up and running. We posted, and will continue to post, information that you all need to know about. Please like or follow our page for information.
However, I would like to extend an invitation for any resident or organization to speak with me. Whether that is at City Hall, or anywhere in the City of Fairfield, I will come to answer any questions you might have or share with you my thoughts, beliefs and vision for the city.
One of the questions I was asked recently was, “What challenges do you see for the City of Fairfield?”
Here was my reply. I do not see challenges, but opportunities. This city has tremendous opportunity to grow and develop in the coming years. We have the opportunity to provide public services in the most efficient and transparent ways possible. There’s opportunity to have an open dialogue with the community to help it grow while keeping its unique small-town charm.
Every person I have spoken with has either started, or ended, with the following phrase, “I want to do what’s best for Fairfield.”
We are going to start there. I invite you to be part of that conversation.
City Administrator Nate Smith can be reached in person at City Hall, 222. S. Mount St., or by calling him at 903-389-2633. His email address is nate.smith@fairfieldtexas.net.
