This year the FREESTONE COUNTY CPS BOARD was able to provide 43 children in our county, ranging in age from infant to 17 years who are in the foster care system, with Christmas gifts, we were also able to get more volunteers go through a foster care training process in independence oh in order to help more children.
The gifts are purchased using funds that are donated and those raised during fund-raising events like the annual Hot Dog Lunch on the square!
This year, the Board was fortunate to receive assistance from several groups in our county: Caney Baptist Church, Texas Elite Bikers, Texas Farm Credit, Freestone Medical Center, and Calvary Baptist Church. These groups were very generous in their contributions to the children and the Board is grateful for their assistance.
The FREESTONE COUNTY CPS BOARD meets monthly August through May in the Freestone County Courthouse on the second Monday of the month at 5:00 pm.
CHRISTMAS STOCKINGS AND QUILTS made by former educators who belong to Delta Kappa Gamma, were delivered by Martha Kirgan. With her is Chairman of Freestone County CPS Board, Katherine Jackson. Delta Kappa Gamma has been donating Christmas quilts and stockings to the children in foster care for many years.
