A Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service program, From the Ground Up – Connecting Agriculture and Health, is scheduled for Jan. 15 at the Waco Convention Center, 100 Washington Ave. in Waco.

The conference, which will be from 8:50 a.m.-4 p.m., is for health care professionals, registered dieticians, registered nurses, educators and students.

Cost is $45 by Jan. 3 and $25 for enrolled full-time students. Lunch is included with registration.

“We are very excited about our program for the January 15 conference,” said Dana Tarter, AgriLife Extension regional program director, Vernon. “We have an excellent panel of presenters, and the topics are relevant to many of the issues facing consumers today.  The presentations we have planned will especially be of interest to those who are working in the health services or health education areas.”

Continuing education units will be given for registered dietitians and certified health education specialists. All other professionals will be provided with five clock hours of continuing education.

The following are scheduled presentations and speakers:

–Critical Thinking About Modern Agriculture: A Framework to Increase the Quality of Public Discourse, Dr. Brandon McFadden, University of Delaware.

–Modern Food Production Methods, Dr. Jolena Waddell, Tarleton State University.

–Reaching People Where They Are: How to Promote Healthy Eating to Low-Income Audiences, Dr. Jenna Anding, AgriLife Extension, College Station.

–Key Strategies to Navigate Social Media for the Health Professional, Danielle Hammond-Krueger, AgriLife Extension, College Station.

–Bridging the Intention-Behavior Gap, Dr. Mark Faries, AgriLife Extension, College Station.
