The future of Fairfield Lake State Park was uppermost of the minds of those traveling to the State Capitol in Austin, Texas for Fairfield Day on Thursday, April 4, 2019.
A group of almost fifteen participated in this year’s event.
They met with representatives of the Governor’s Office and Texas Department of Agriculture, as well as State Representative Cody Harris (District 8) and State Senator Charles Schwertner (District 5).

Each of these state government officials voiced their support in doing “anything we can” to help maintain one of Fairfield’s biggest attractions for out of town visitors.
Fairfield Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Brenda Pate, delivered letters from the community supporting the future of Fairfield Lake State Park.
During their visit to the State Capitol, the Fairfield delegation was given the grand tour by Kassie Fleming and Leah Clark of Senator Schwertner’s office. Fleming serves as the point of contact for Freestone County constituents.
Also during their visit, the group was formally introduced on the floor of the house by Representative Harris, and Senator Schwertner presented them with an official resolution in honor of special day.
