Cajun Food Truck Debuts This Saturday

This weekend, downtown Fairfield will host a true farmers market – no crafts allowed – with fresh produce, farm-raised meat, farm-fresh eggs, jams & jellies, honey and maybe even some potted plants.

Organizers Julee and Andy Emmons of Armadillo Emporium are excited to officially open Fairfield Farmers Market on Saturday, May 6th from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

There is no charge for vendors to set up.

If you are interested in selling your product, simply send an email armadilloemporium@gmail.com or call 903-389-3336.

As of last week, at least five vendors are expected for the May market, including Skyz the Limit Ranch.

If all goes to plan, this local ranch owner may bring along a few goats and a donkey for the kids to enjoy a small petting zoo.

Also debuting this Saturday at Fairfield Farmers Market is The Plate Lunch: Cajun Cooking food truck, owned by Scott McBay.

This cook’s specialty is Cajun home cooking with rice and gravy. McBay will be serving up comfort on a plate with such dishes as Boudin Sausage, Étouffée, Jambalaya and more.

If you miss opening day, no worries.

The Plate Lunch will be open Monday thru Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Get ready to make this stop at tasty habit.

Fairfield Farmers Market will be held the First Saturday of each month, from May thru October.

Siblings Julee and Andy are looking to grow the market each month.

“We’re looking to have Watermelons in June,” said Andy.

He also hopes to incorporate a ‘Picker’s’ market, with vintage, salvaged and one-of-a-kind finds.

Armadillo Emporium is located on the southwest corner of the Freestone County Courthouse Square at 101 W. Commerce Street.

Hope to see you there!
