The National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) Chapter 1191 held its monthly meeting from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Bubbas BBQ in Ennis on Tues., 14 June 2022. The guest speaker was David Casarez, Program Director for Parks and Recreation in Ennis. The speaker is originally from Dallas, has been married 28 years, with two daughters, is retired from the military, and worked with the Texas Rangers prior to his current position.

The speaker said that the challenge is to develop programs for all citizens of all ages with the mission of developing programs for fitness and social acivities in traditional and nontraditional sports. Among the accomplishments cited were new playgrounds in all parks, new walking trails, a walking program for seniors, kids exercise program, girls volleyball league, adult beach volleyball, adult softball and 30 new tree plantings. He noted that the park master plan is now complete and is now working on new land for parks. The very interesting program was followed by a question and answer session.

NARFE Chap. 1191 covers Ellis, Navarro and adjacent parts of the surrounding counties. Membership in NARFE is open to all active and retired federal employees and their spouses, former federal employees, and former spouses who are entitled to a federal survivor annuity.
