This year’s Halloween fun kicks off on Wednesday!

Wed., October 25th

Start out early for Fairfield Nursing & Rehab’s Trunk-or-Treat from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to visit their parking lot full of cars and candy.

Then, join the annual Boo! On the Square in downtown Fairfield.

Come out Wednesday, October 25th between 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. for fun, games and tasty treats.

Held on the Freestone County courthouse square, this annual event will keep the kiddos busy with games, activities, pictures and trick-or-treating.

Participating with booths and volunteers include the City of Fairfield, Fairfield Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Center, Freestone Medical Center, Fairfield Jazz Band, Faith Academy of Freestone, McDonald’s, Dew Junior High, Freestone County Queens, Tri-County Tint & Classic Glass, Incommons Bank, Design and Décor by Danie, Round Prairie Baptist Church, State Farm Will Hallmark, Freestone Credit Union, Tractor Supply, Oneok, Sonic Drive-In, Fairfield ISD Education Foundation, Hoover Treated Wood Products, and Faith Fellowship Baptist Church.

Freestone County Times photographers will be taking pictures for the newspaper.

Also, be sure to stop by Dessert by MommaCakes for fun and treats during the event.

Other locations for trick-or-treating fun within walking distance include the Freestone County Historical Museum and Trunk-or-Treat at the First United Methodist Church parking lot.

Fall Festivals will be held at Harmony Presbyterian Church from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., and at Calvary Baptist Church from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Thurs., October 26th

Adults will join the fun on Thursday, October 26th for The Annual Good Witch Ride. Come dressed in costume and ride with Fairfield Chamber of Commerce as they visit the nursing homes in Fairfield.

Good Witches will meet at the courthouse at 5:15 p.m. for a quick picture before heading out. Afterward, join the participants for some witches brew at El Jimador restaurant.

Sat., October 28th

Saturday, October 28th will feature a full day of fun, all over Freestone County.

Start off in Teague for their annual Parkfest featuring BBQ, Car Show, tournaments, games and performances.

–Volleyball tournament begins at 9:00 a.m.

–Car Show runs from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

–Vendors open at 9:00 a.m.

–Corn Hole sign up is at 10:00 a.m. (bags fly at 12:00 noon)

–Children’s Costume Contest held at 10:00 a.m.

–Pet Costume Contest will be at 10:30 a.m.

–Gun Fighting Showtimes will be at 10:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 2:30 p.m.

–Dance Show will be at 11:00 a.m.

–Raffle tickets sold from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (winners drawn at 2:00 p.m.)

–BBQ competition awards to follow raffle at about 2:15 p.m. (Cooks meet Friday at 5:00 p.m.)

For some rodeo action, head over to the Teague Rodeo Arena for Ghosts and Ghouls Goat Roping, benefiting Freestone County 4-H.

Enter at 3:30 p.m., Roping starts at 4:00 p.m. Cost is $20 for team 12 & under, or $30 for 13 & up.

Then, head over to downtown Wortham for the 7th Annual Brick Street Fall Festival from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m

Enjoy fun & games, good food, and trick-or-treating.

Event is sponsored by Wortham area churches and businesses.

Back in Fairfield, True Vine Doxa Center will host a Fall Festival from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. This event will feature bounce houses, food, games, drinks and prizes for the best costumes.

If you can get the kids tucked in early, the come enjoy a Night of Boo-ze and Bites at The Vines in Fairfield from 6:00 to 11:00 p.m. Costumes encouraged, prizes awarded.

Food will be catered by Twisted Vines Event Center. Music provided by Laney Newman.

Sun., October 29th

Wortham 4-H and FFA Chapter will participate in a Canned Goods Drive for the Wortham Food Pantry between 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 29th. Residents are welcome to leave canned goods on their porch in a sack for the students to pick up.

Tues., Oct 31st

Fairview Healthcare Residence in Fairfield will host their first Trunk-or-Treat beginning at 5:00 p.m. on October 31st in their front parking lot. If you would like to donate candy for the event, leave it with Activity Director Amber High.

Teague Economic Development Corporation will host their 6th annual Trunk-or-Treat from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. (or, until candy runs out) on Tuesday, October 31st. Local businesses participate in this event.

Location is at 300 Block of Elm (empty lot next to Hotel) in Teague. In case of rain, event will move to the Teague Community Center.

Fairfield VFD will be passing out Candy Halloween Night at the Fire Station from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. They will also have a bounce house set up.

Trick-or-Treating will occur in Wortham on Tuesday, October 31st. Suggested time is 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Please leave your porch light off if you wish not to participate.

No specific times have been announced at press time for the cities of Teague or Fairfield.
