The City of Fairfield is aware of recent public reports issued by the Office of the Attorney General concerning Senate Bill 1851 (SB 1851) and municipal audit compliance requirements affecting various Texas cities.

At this time, the City of Fairfield has not received any official notification, determination letter, or formal correspondence from the Office of the Attorney General regarding alleged non-compliance under SB 1851.

The city remains committed to transparency, fiscal responsibility, and compliance with all applicable state laws and reporting requirements. City staff continue to work diligently with financial professionals, auditors, and legal counsel to ensure all statutory obligations are properly addressed and maintained.

Fairfield leadership recognizes the importance of maintaining public trust and responsible stewardship of taxpayer resources. Should the City receive any formal communication from the State regarding this matter, it will be reviewed promptly and addressed in accordance with applicable law and established procedures.
