Eagle fans, alumni and Fairfield High School students will be enjoying Homecoming this week.

Kick-off against Madisonville will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Eagle Field on Friday, September 9th.

Come early for the crowning of Homecoming Queen prior to the game.

Following the game, Texas 99 KNES is hosting Cruisin’ FreeCo,

Polish and spit shine you ride and come cruise the drag, just like the good ole days.

Cruise downtown Fairfield from Lyle Oil to Boyd Plaza. Be sure to “honk” when you see the Texas 99 Jeep for your chance at free prizes!

The City of Fairfield and Fairfield Chamber of Commerce presents the 24th Annual Show of Wheels event on the courthouse square on Saturday, September 10th from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Featuring classic cars, trucks and motorcycles, this show features over 30 judged classes and numerous specialty awards. Entry is $25.

Bi-Stone Antique Tractor Club will also display their best.

There will be food, vendors, cold drinks, clean restrooms and plenty of shade.

Attendees are encouraged to shop local retailers to participate in the Ladies Poker Stroll for a chance to win some prizes.

For those in town on Friday, there is a new event this year, especially for kids:  Kid’s Style Bicycle Cruise.

Decorate your bikes and join the fun Friday evening, September 9th.

Registration is at 5:30 p.m.; Parade begins at 6:00 p.m.

Enjoy hot dogs, chips, drink and popcorn (first come, first served) while enjoying music by DJ Theresa Farris.

If that isn’t enough for your weekend, there’s more.

Head out to the fairgrounds in Fairfield for the 2022 Big T Memorial Cook-Off.

This annual event is a Lonestar Barbeque Society State Championship Cook-Off that includes a $10,000 payout.

Teams will compete in delicious BBQ Chicken, Spareibs and Brisket. Jackpot categories are Beans and Cook’s Choice.

Entry fee is $200 per team, and $25 per Jackpot category.

Cook team registration is from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, September 9th. Cook’s meeting is at 6:00 p.m.

Entries will be turned in for judges at various times on Saturday, September 10th.

BBQ Fundraiser Sale will be served from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (or sold out). Awards will be announced around 6:00 p.m. followed by Live Music with T.J. Holden and Jesse Duke.

Additional events include a 42 Tournament Friday evening, Touch-A-Truck event for the kids on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and a Kid’s Cook-Off Challenge Saturday afternoon.

Finally, Blues music fans are invited to make the drive to the brick streets of downtown Wortham for their annual Blues Festival.

Gates open at 5:00 p.m. with music starting at 6:00 p.m.

Admission is $15 per adult, $5 for kids age 6-12, and free for kids 5 and under.

This year’s Blues Festival features Headliner Tatum Jackson of Dallas.

Sharing the stage will be the Peter Sinclair Band, Frank Hasty & Da’Merge, and Teresa James and the Rhythm Tramps.
