Barney Lee Crouch, 89, of Fairfield, died Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at his residence.
Funeral services were held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 7, 2019 at Round Prairie Baptist Church with Mr. John Fryer officiating. Interment followed at Antioch Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Todd Sullivan, Stephen Barton, Chad Avery, Josh Avery, Jerry Hughes and Joe Linney. Honorary pallbearers were Vannette Horton, Raymond Ivy, Abo Schwarzer, David Reed, Barry Capps, Faye Frederick, Bob Avery and Willie Nelson.
Mr. Crouch was born August 11, 1929 in Freestone County to parents Thomas and Lee Day Crouch.
He later moved to Dallas and worked in the automobile industry but never lost his passion for cattle, horses and life in the country. He moved back to Fairfield in 1978 and enjoyed full time ranching.
Mr. Crouch served on the following boards in Freestone County: Farm Bureau, Appraisal District, and the Water and Soil Conservation Service.
He always greeted everyone with a smile.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy (Dot) Crouch; a sister, Etta Faye Anderson; a brother, James Doyle (JD) Crouch and a son, Jerry Avery.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 28 years, Barbara Crouch; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie Deanne and Todd Sullivan; son and daughter-in-law Bob and Anita Avery, daughter-in-law, Leslie Avery; son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Becky Barton; a daughter, Crystal Barton; grandchildren, Chad Avery; Josh and Brandee Avery; Kristyn and Bill Lowrance; Colten Johnston; and Carlee Johnston; great-grandchildren, Aby Avery; Kaitlin Avery; Hudson Avery; Jordyn Lowrance; Jayden Phipps.
