The Fairfield Lions Club had a surprise for a couple of members who are currently in the Fairfield Nursing and Rehab on Moody Street Thursday, October 12, 2023 as a meeting began there with President Mark Ornelas presiding and several other members attending.

Ann Gatlin was involved with planning the surprise, but her husband Gilbert was totally surprised and very pleased with the visit and meal brought in.

Along with regular business, Past District Governor and current Global Membership Team Leader Lion Sanchez and his wife Sylvia gave a brief introduction to the Texas Lions Museum in Kerrville, Texas.

Lions Clubs are known for serving others across the country in ways that many don’t realize – not just helping the blind, or by collecting glasses, touching the lives of millions in one way or another.

Many Lions Club sponsors disabled children so they can attend a summer camp. Fairfield Lions Club being one.

The club gives stuffed lions to law enforcement officers for traumatized children and are currently spot-lighting an officer-of-the-month with a box at Brookshire Brothers where individuals can purchase items of choice for the individual officers each month, then read about and see pictures of the box being presented to that officer in the newspaper.

Anyone interested in joining can find a club member by their wearing a Lions Club pin, then ask them for an application.
