Elmer Joe Ballard, 71 of Fairfield, passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2023. He was born September 28, 1952, in Waco to Buddy and Peggy Hawkins Ballard. He graduated from Teague High School Class of 1971. He married the love of his life, Patti Stroud on February 22,1972.

Elmer was a Master Electrician holding a master electrical license and HVAC class A and was self-employed for 35 plus years selling his business in 2019. He was an avid hunter, enjoying hunting over the years with his granddaddy, daddy and sons in Colorado and all over the state of Texas.

Elmer also enjoyed camping and fishing. Elmer was also a lifetime member of the American Sportsman Club. After his retirement he spent time at home and loved seeing his grandson.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Buddy and Peggy Ballard; mother and father-in-law, Patsy and Wiley Stroud; brothers in law, Blelve Bridges, Mickey Childers and Herb Shaw.

Elmer leaves behind his loving wife of 51 plus years, Patti Ballard; sons Phillip Ballard and wife Bekah, Ethan Ballard and wife Mitzie; grandchildren, Cody Ballard and fiancé Tanner, Kyle Ballard, Kanon Ballard, Kyler Ballard, Colten Dandridge and Brandon Dandridge. Brothers and sisters, Billy Ballard and wife Sue, Susian Shaw, Melvin Ballard and wife Lillian, Glyna Bridges, Slinda Childers. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be 6:00 pm -8:00 pm Monday, October 23, 2023 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Celebration of life will be 11:00 am Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Ballard, Jayme Ballard, Jim Shaw, Jay Shaw, Casey Story, Cayden Story, Colton Story. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Myers, James Myers, Billy Jim Day.
