September 17, 1938 – November 8, 2023

 

William Franklin Lauderdale, 85 of Wortham, passed away on November 8, 2023 at his residence.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Jones Funeral Services Chapel with Reverend Christopher Knox, officiating.  Interment with military honors will follow at Wortham Cemetery.  Family visitation will be held Friday evening from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

 

Mr. Lauderdale was born on September 17, 1938 in Corsicana, Texas to William Bruce & Ruth Olivia Lauderdale.  After graduating high school, he served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam.  He enjoyed fishing, playing 42 and eating.  He loved being around family and stirring the pot.  He was a very vocal person who would tell you what you thought, but was always willing to lend a helping hand.

 

William was preceded in death by his parents, William & Ruth Lauderdale; siblings, Thurman Lauderdale, Nelda Bush, Jerry Lauderdale, Martha Knox, Joy Marie Lauderdale, Linda K. Patsy.  Survivors include his children, William Lauderdale & wife, Sharon, of Broxburn, Scotland, Helen Hamilton & husband, Robert of Broxburn, Scotland and Bruce Lauderdale & wife, Jill of Broxburn, Scotland; grandchildren, Leigh, Stuart, Louise, Robert, Jack, Jessica, Sarah, Caitlin, Billy and Kelly; six great-grandchildren; siblings, Danny Lauderdale, Michael Lauderdale, Jackie Lauderdale and Gay Nell Toney; special love Earlene Brewer; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

 

Serving as pallbearers are Christopher Knox, Danny Lauderdale, Chad Lauderdale, Ivan Brewer, John Galloway and John Knox.  Honorary pallbearers are Rodeo Davis and Christian Lauderdale and Bobby Joe.

 

The family wishes to give special thanks to the Wortham Civic Center. There will be dinner at 5:00 p.m. on November 18th at Danny & Billie Jean Lauderdale’s house on Avenue D in Wortham.
