Dear Editor,
Freestone County Retired Teachers Association Members would like to thank everyone in Freestone County and voters across the state that went to the polls to vote for Proposition 9. Your votes will help relieve 420,000 public school retirees financial burdens. More voters voted for Prop 9 than any of the other 13 propositions including the property tax relief proposition. Thank you for thinking back fondly, to those public school employees during your school experience that made a difference in you, your children, or your grandchildren’s lives.
If you are a retired public school employee please join TRTA State and our local Freestone County Chapter. We need you: teachers, administrators, bus drivers, cafeteria workers, aides, maintenance, any employee that receives a monthly TRS Annuity. TRTA is the only group working to better our financial future. The more members we have the better the legislators listen to our needs. This COLA and Stiphen were big WINs for many but we will continue to need bumps to our financial benefits including future COLAs, better healthcare benefits with lower costs and fighting the WEP and GPO on the Federal level. Contact a FCRTA Officer or Member to find out more. Come join us to take an active part in what is happening to your financial future.
