Over Easter weekend, a resident of Freestone County captured this sighting of a mostly white turkey in their backyard, east of Fairfield.

After viewing the picture, Freestone County Game Warden John Thorne said that it could be an albino wild turkey.

“There have been several sightings at Antioch,” he said, of wild turkeys (but not white ones).

During the winter of 2020, the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department staff released 198 Rio Grande wild turkeys at 4 sites in Freestone, Navarro, and Kaufman counties along the Trinity River as part of an experiment to restock the birds along the Trinity River watershed.
