The National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) Chapter 1191 held its monthly lunch meeting on Tuesday, 11 Apr 2023, at the Asian King Buffet in Waxahachie.

Dr. Jerry Hollingsworth, Superintendent of Waxahachie ISD, was the guest speaker. He was accompanied by staff members, Jenny Bridges and Steve Castaneda. Dr. Hollingsworth has been superintendent since August 2021.  He has been in public education for 28 years as a teacher and adminstrator.  He was most recently superintendent of Bandera ISD and has served at Stephenville, Grapevine-Colleyville and Burleson ISDs. He has a bachelor’s degree from TCU and a master’s and doctorate from the Univ. of N. Texas. He and his wife of 28 years, Ginger, have three sons, Wyatt, Lane, and Clayton.

Dr. Hollingsworth discussed the core values of choices, collaboration, belonging and community, along with current and projected growth in the community, as informing the planning for facility upgrades and additions. Comparisons with growth rates and development in other metroplex school districts were also included in the presentation. Availability of information on the Waxahachie ISD website on the bond issue was also noted. A question and answer session followed the very interesting presentation.
