Funeral services for W. E. (Bill) May will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Eighth Avenue Baptist Church in Teague. Bro. Roy Prather will officiate. Interment will follow the services at Point Enterprise Cemetery.

Visitation will be held prior to the service on Wednesday beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the church.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Mr. May passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Legacy at Town Creek in Palestine.

He was born in Santa Anna, Texas, on June 10, 1930, to George & Lois (Sellers) May. Bill moved to Point Enterprise as a child and later to Teague where he attended school. Mr. May went into the electronics business and founded Bill’s Radio & T.V. in Teague in 1947. He installed the Freestone County Sheriff Office’s first radio system and maintained it until he closed his business in 1983. Bill married Louise on May 3, 1965, and shared over forty-seven years of marriage together before being separated by her death on June 23, 2012.  Mr. May worked as a private security guard for several years and for several different companies. He also served as a reserve deputy for Freestone County under Sheriff Sonny Sessions and was a member of the Teague Volunteer Fire Department for twenty-seven years. Bill loved music his entire life and was an accomplished guitar and fiddle player. Mr. May was a member of Eighth Avenue Baptist Church in Teague.

He is survived by two daughters, Paula Dunklin & husband Tom of Crosby and Jackie Rasbeary & husband Ron of Teague; five grandchildren, Amy Martinez & husband Abel, Janet Najvar & husband Stephen; Paul Wilson & wife Missy; Jared Rasbeary & wife Jessica; and Keith Wilson & wife Courtney; eighteen great-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy McAdams of Teague; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise May; three sisters, Lavada Thompson, Joyce Merz, and Nelda Wood; one son, Tommy Wilson; and one grandson, Michael Dunklin.
