Fairfield ISD will be changed to a 3-A UIL district starting next School Year.

During the 2020-2022 Reclassification and Realignment it was decided that Fairfield ISD should be moved down. The decision was based on the number of students in attendance at FIS.

4-A districts are required to have 514 High School students. Fairfield ISD has 504 in High School.

Fairfield ISD Superintendent Dr. Jason Adams believes this will revert to the 4-A standing in just a few years.

Academically this does not affect the students; it will solely affect district games.

Dr. Adams explained that, “You can play any school that is not part of your district.” He went on to state it is only the district games that matter.

More information on what the new district looks like should become available in February.

Teague ISD and Wortham ISD will be maintaining their district classifications.

Yes, this means that we might see some Fairfield vs. Teague Football games next fall.

Dew ISD is not ranked, due to no High School, instead they request to play in a district, Superintendent Darrel Evans explained.

They have been with District 27-A for at least the last five years.

Districts will be reclassified again in two years.
