Tyrus Small of Streetman, Texas passed away on Friday evening, April 5, 2019 in Lancaster, Texas at the age of 85.
He was born in Jones County, North Carolina on February 4, 1934 to Emmett Small and Alliebell Howard Small.
Tyrus was an electrician by trade and worked for the City of Dallas for 26 years as a traffic control technician and owned his own business T.R. Small Electric for 27 years.
He loved to work on the house, which he built for them in Streetman, adding to it as needed over the years. He also enjoyed woodworking, building projects for people.
Tyrus served in the United States Army for a short time before being Honorably Discharged.
Tyrus is survived by his wife Maria Small; Sons: John Alexander Small and Tyrus Edward Small; Grandchildren: Jordan Alexander Small, Thomas Aaron Small, Emily Camille Small and Madeline Renee Small; Sister: Hazel Parker; and a number of nieces, nephews and extended family members.
He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Helen Davis, Violet Pidcock and Joseph Small.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Birdston Cemetery in Streetman with Pastor Dan Gleason officiating.
