Trinity Star Arts Council (TSAC) has planned an evening of lovely, lively music for your enjoyment, entertainment and enlightenment on Friday, December 8, at Lakeside United Methodist Church in St. Elmo. Presented by The Piatigorsky Foundation, the concert will feature outstanding artists Evan Drachman, cello, and Richard Dowling, piano. Jointly sponsored by the church and TSAC, the event is offered to everyone free of charge.
Cellist Evan Drachman, Founder and Artistic Director of The Piatigorsky Foundation, has become highly sought after as a performer as well as an authority on the presentation of classical music in all venues and for all audiences. He has performed all over the U.S. and abroad, with several CD’s to his credit. His education includes studies at the Peabody Conservatory of Music, New England Conservatory and a BMA degree from Curtis Institute of Music. Mr. Drachman resides in Maryland with his wife Joan and their two sons, Eli and Oliver.

Richard Dowling, Pianist, appears regularly all across the U.S. and periodically at outstanding venues such as Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall, performing solo recitals and concerts with orchestras. He is a versatile recording artist with over a dozen CD’s of classical, ragtime, jazz and popular music styles. His latest offering was the complete works of Ragtime King Scott Joplin, a collection of over 50 pieces. Reviewers describe him as “a musician with something to say, the skill to say it and the magnetic power to make you want to listen.” Mr. Dowling studied at Yale University and the University of Texas.
For almost 30 years, The Piatigorsky Foundation has combined artistic excellence and public outreach to create concerts that appeal to diverse audiences in communities all over the United States. Its mission is to increase awareness and appreciation of classical music. Evan Drachman established the foundation in 1990 in honor of his grandfather Gregor Piatigorsky, who deeply believed in the healing and inspirational power of classical music. He once said, “Music makes life better. Music is a necessity. It is rich…imaginative…magnificent. And it is for everyone.”
