May is here in Freestone County, which means, time for High School Graduation, and while 2020 has been a strange year, time did not stop.


The Freestone County Courthouse lawn is covered in signs and banners to honor all the graduates from Fairfield ISD, Teague ISD, and Wortham ISD.

Fairfield ISD plans to have Graduation on Friday, May 29, 2020, and have stated they will do graduation virtually if necessary.

Planned Friday, May 15th are Senior Prom Photo Drive-in and Senior Parade at 7:00 p.m.

Senior Awards ceremony will be held virtually on Friday, May 22 at 6:00 p.m.

Teague High School

Graduation has now been set for May 29 (Lions Academy on May 28).

Teague ISD has many plans to help honor their seniors upcoming including their “Lights for Our Lions” every Friday night at 8:20 p.m.

Starting this week, signs will start being places in front of the High School; each senior has their own sign, and are encouraged to pick it up after graduation as a keepsake.

Keep an eye on the Teague High School Facebook page, as a senior recognition video is being planned to appear there next week as well as on the Teague ISD website.

Next during the week of May 18, 2020 is Operation Senior Surprise.

The entire community (individuals, organizations and businesses) are invited to donate items for individual gift baskets.

Drop your donation off on the steps of the high school before May 18 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., and they will prepare the gift baskets.

In the final week of May, they are in the beginning stages of arranging a Senior Parade.

The Senior Awards Ceremony will be videotaped for the public, and available the first week of June.

Wortham High School

Wortham ISD top students and honor graduates were not available at press time, please look for them in next week’s edition.

Graduation has been announced for Saturday, June 6, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at the wall (football field)

This Thursday, May 7, 2020 Wortham’s seniors picked up their cap and gowns.

Families were encouraged to come to celebrate the seniors, and they will make sure there is time for pictures.

At 7:00 p.m. they lined up and parade through downtown for a community celebration of the seniors. See next week’s edition for pictures of this event.
