THE FREESTONE COUNTY TIMES TRAVELED to the Yuyuan Garden in Shanghia with Jessica and Justin Fuchs during their trip to China.
The 5-acre garden includes pavilions, halls, rockeries, ponds and cloisters, all with unique characteristics. It was built during the Ming Dynasty by a government officer, wanting to give his parents a place to enjoy in their old age.
The Yuyuan Garden was restored and opened to the public in 1961, and was declared a national monument in 1982.
Thanks to the Fuchs family for including Freestone County, Texas in their travels.
