Texas Farm Credit’s continued devotion to the foster kids was a big contribution to the success of our foster care children Christmas gift giving this year. Not only do they give of their financial resources, their employees volunteer their time and energy to make sure the Freestone County kids have a merry Christmas. We had additional help from a ladies bible study group who assisted with two of our most recently added children. Calvary Baptist church donated age appropriate bibles for the children and their families. Jessica Long gifted each child with a Scentsy stuffed animal. Nine year-old Gentry Longron hand made little bears to give to each of the children. Martha Kirgan and her group from Delta Kappa Gamma once again donated Christmas stockings for the children.
The Freestone County CPS Board works year-round to raise funds to support the kids in foster care in our county not only at Christmas but throughout the time they are in foster care. We are so blessed to live in a community of such generous businesses and individuals and our heartfelt appreciation goes out to each one of them!
In the last several years, on average, Freestone County has 35 children in foster care ranging in age from newborn to 18 years. We have had as many as 44 in care. Our Board continues to host events like “Go Blue Day” in April to raise awareness of child abuse with the goal of preventing it from happening and hopefully eradicating it completely! We want everyone to know that help is available for them in our county.
The CPS Board meets monthly at the Freestone County Courthouse.
