Senate Proclamation No. 199

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the Freestone County Fair and Rodeo in honor of its 100th anniversary, which is being celebrated during this year’s event taking place June 13-18, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Organized officially by the Freestone County Fair Association, the first Freestone County Fair was held in Teague, Texas, on September 26-28, 1922; today, the association remains committed to the event’s success and to upholding the values of heritage and community; and

WHEREAS, This time-honored community event has drawn crowds from across the region throughout the past century and features such events as the coronation of the Freestone County Fair Queen, a livestock competition, and a rodeo; the 2022 event and anniversary celebration will offer attractions including a livestock show, home and garden show, fair, and live music; and

WHEREAS, Since its establishment, the Freestone County Fair and Rodeo has been a source of wholesome fun for families and has provided entertainment for guests of all ages, the much-anticipated event reflects the outstanding efforts and commitment of numerous men and women who work diligently to ensure its ongoing success, and it is indeed fitting that this exemplary event receive special recognition in honor of its 100th anniversary; now, therefore, be it

PROCLAMED, That the Senate of the State of Texas hereby commend the members of the Freestone County Fair and Rodeo Association and those who have contributed to the planning and organizing of the Freestone County Fair and Rodeo and extend to all best wishes for a successful and memorable 100th anniversary celebration; and, be it further

PROCLAIMED, That a copy of this Proclamation be prepared in honor of this special event.
