According to Teague Chief of Police, DeWayne Philpott, the officer who was involved in a recent shooting was returned to active duty as of Monday, October 1, 2019.
The Freestone County Grand Jury no-billed the officer on Wednesday, September 25th, 2019 after reviewing the evidence provided.
The incident occurred on Thursday, September 5th, 2019.
The suspect, Dexter Glenn Henderson, reportedly entered City Hall with a wooden rod that he shook at City Staff.
City Staff called the Teague Police Department to assist with the situation.
The suspect and the officer allegedly struggled; the officer first gave verbal command, and deployed his taser. After these were both ineffective the officer reportedly discharged his duty issued firearm.
The officer’s name is being withheld.
