The Teague Lions took their longest trip of the season and came up with zero points in a 28-0 loss to the Lago Vista Vikings Friday night. The Lions return home looking for their first victory of the young season.
The Viking defense kept the Teague offense under control the entire night. The Lions were held to 58 yards of total offense and a couple of quarterbacks teamed up to pass for 50 of those yards.
The bright spot for the Lions is the play in the first quarter. The initial 12 minutes have produced no points for the Lions but they have not given up points to teams that made deep playoff runs in 2020, Mart in the 2A Division II title game and these Vikings in the 3A quarterfinals.
After the scoreless first quarter, the Lago Vista Vikings put together a couple of nice drives keyed by big plays. Viking quarterback Bowan Stobb had a 59-yard run on a scoring drive and then added a 16-yard touchdown run. He would also get it done with the arm, throwing a couple of touchdown passes to Ethan Helton, one from 66 yards out and the second a 16-yard scoring strike.
The Teague Lions will return home to take on the Madisonville Mustangs on Friday night. The Mustangs lost to the Liberty Panthers 42-14 on Friday night.
