Freestone County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a bank robbery that occurred at the Donie Alliance Bank located at 235 Main Street in Donie.
According to FCSO, on Monday, November 5, 2018, at approximately 10:04 a.m., the suspect brandished a long barreled blue steel revolver that was pulled from a blue bag the suspect was carrying.
After pointing the gun at employees and demanding money, the suspect then placed employees in the bank vault and closed the door.
The suspect is described as a white person of unknown age, wearing a fake black or dark brown beard, mustache, and wig, dark sunglasses, baseball cap, blue jeans, and white tennis shoes; and was also wearing a gray hoodie that bore the lettering “Maine East Athletic Dept” in blue or purple lettering.
When leaving with an unspecified amount of cash, the suspect fled in a gray or silver four-door passenger car that appeared to be a Ford Focus (or similar type vehicle), and traveled eastbound on Hwy 164 toward Interstate 45.
Teague Police Department immediately arrived on scene to assist; and Leon County Sheriff’s Office was quick to respond to the north end of their county in attempt to possibly intercept the unknown suspect in that area.
The Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) will be working with Freestone County Criminal Investigations Division as the investigation continues.
The FCSO is asking that if you have any information on this crime that could be of assistance, to please contact their office immediately at 903-389-3236.
