Late Wednesday evening, March 17th 2021, Teague Police arrested a teenager accused of assaulting an officer while trying to make an arrest.
Officers took 18-year-old Tristan Bell into custody around 10:05 p.m without incident.
Earlier that morning Teague Police responded to an unwanted person report on Jackson Street. The responding officer contacted the individual and learned of a Parole Violation Warrant for his arrest.
While attempting to take Bell into custody, the officer says Bell assaulted him and then fled. The officer received medical treatment and was able to returned to work.
Citizens were informed of the incident and warned by Police on social media to practice caution, to not attempt to apprehend the suspect and to notify law enforcement if they spotted Mr. Bell.
Officers received reports that Bell had strangled his pregnant girlfriend and then stolen a truck from a resident, which he crashed on FM-1365 before the officer responded to the unwanted person call.
Bell was wanted for the parole warrant (Original Charge Theft of Firearm). Pending charges from Wednesday morning’s incident are Assaulting a Public Servant, Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle, Possession of a Controlled Substance (Penalty Group 1) <1 gram, with more charges being evaluated in connection with the crime spree.
