On Thursday, April 18, Streetman Volunteer Fire Department received a $7,000 check from Benefit RC, a nonprofit organization started by RE/MAX Lakeside Dreams over 8 years ago to benefit the communities around Richland Chambers Lake. John Teel, President of Benefit RC, quoted “since we learned that SVFD was looking at replacing their grass truck, we wanted to help them out with a donation. We had money in reserves from the 2023 Annual Poker Run that we knew they could use to outfit the new grass truck.”

This “grass truck” project started with John Sutton, a retired Dallas Battalion Chief and now a volunteer for SVFD. John saw a need when the 21-year-old truck broke down twice last year during two grass fires at the peak of our dry season. John gathered pledges and donations for the $57,000 new grass truck that will be put in use mid-May. John said “this additional $7,000 will help us with special lighting, radios and other accessories required for a grass truck. We thank John and Julie Teel and the Benefit RC Board for this very generous donation.”

If you wish to learn more about SVFD, please find them on Facebook at Streetman Fire Department. Sponsors of all levels are welcome to assist in achieving this goal.
