Julian Jefferson, originally charged in the murder of Fairfield woman Denise Lissette Ramos in May of 2024, and formally indicted by a grand jury on a charge of Capital Murder, attended a hearing on April 29, 2026, in which the Texas Attorney General’s Office announced that they WILL be seeking the Death Penalty.
Jefferson is currently represented by Attorney David E. Moore, however, now that the Death Penalty is being sought, Freestone County will be responsible for appointing two defense attorneys to represent Jefferson in his trial.
These new attorneys will be paid for by the county with funds issued from an insurance policy that comes through the Regional Public Defenders Office.
The Texas Attorney General’s Office was unavailable for comment as of press time.
The ‘Times’ will continue to follow this story and update as new details become available.
