The 2016 Fairfield Fall Arts Fest is all about children, with great shows and activities for them to experience throughout the day.
One of the highlights will be performances by Le Theatre de Marionette of Dallas.  Returning again this year after making a big hit in last year’s Fall Arts Fest, this group will be presenting their current touring show, “STAR WARP:  May the Farce Be With You.”  This Sci Fi parody features iconic characters in comical scenarios.  Martians, aliens, stormtroopers, bounty hunters and space knights all make an appearance.  Added to all that is dueling light sabers, dance choreography and trick marionettes, making up a show that is out of this world.  Though designed for children ages 4-18, ALL ages will enjoy this hilarious and very entertaining spectacle.
A follow up hands-on session will feature a fun Knuckle-Buster Make-and-Take character for the children to create and enjoy.
Fairfield Fall Arts Fest is scheduled for Saturday, October 1, on the courthouse square.  In addition to the marionette shows, children can experience “Hank the Cowdog” author John R. Erickson, “Freestone Critters” by FISD students, balloon twisters, face painters and scarecrows.
Presented by Trinity Star Arts Council, the annual festival also includes live bluegrass & country/western musicians and dancers, a 19th-century art exhibit and food trucks.  The event is sponsored by the City of Fairfield, Texas Commission on the Arts, Community National Bank, Farmers State Bank, Freestone Chryster Jeep Dodge/Lone Star Chevrolet, Stan Waldrip and Incommons Bank.  Additional sponsorships are available at (903) 388-4765 or www.trinitystarartscouncil.org.
