The Crockett Resource Center for Independent Living (CRCIL) will host their fifteenth (15th) annual Community Health Fair on Thursday, March 14th, 2024. The event will be held at the Crockett Civic Center, 1100 Edmiston Drive, Crockett, Texas from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
“The number of uninsured adults in the U.S. today is more than thirty (30) million which is approximately 9.2 percent of the total population. A recent survey finds that more than two (2) in five (5) working-age adults are struggling to afford care. It is shocking to learn that Texas continues to be the number one state with the highest percentage of uninsured among its population, which is about 17.0%. We have more than 22,000 people living in Houston County and roughly 20% of this population under the age of 65 are living without health insurance. So many of the uninsured individuals living in our rural community cannot afford the expense of doctor visits and costly tests due to limited income. Because of the high numbers of uninsured individuals in our county, we felt that it was important to have a community health fair with as many free screenings to reach the uninsured residing within our county and surrounding areas,” CRCIL’s Executive Director, Sara Minton stated.
“Both MidCoast Medical Center as well as Palestine Regional Medical Center (PRMC) will have a large presence this year bringing doctors and specialized personnel performing screenings, assessments, and providing valuable health related information to be shared with fair participants which will ensure the success of the fair,” Minton added.
