Robert Allen “Bob” Rikard was born on September 3, 1953 in Galveston, Texas. He passed from this life on November 24, 2023 at the age of 70 in his home in Fairfield, Texas.
He grew up in Lake Jackson, Tx after having been adopted by Don & Maxine Rikard near his first birthday and was a graduate of the Brazoswood High School class of 1972. Bob attended Sam Houston State University and eventually moved to Fairfield in 1977 to work for the lignite project recently started there by Dow Chemical. He married Cynthia Allen in 1979 and other than a 3-year period working for Dow Chemical in Freeport, they made their lives and raised their five boys in Fairfield. Bob owned Special Touch Custom Picture Framing in Fairfield from 1989 until health issues caused him to close in 2009.
Bob was a talented artist, enjoyed wood working, hunting, history, old movies and had a relationship with music that was very personal. He loved a good conversation on almost any subject and could ask questions that couldn’t be answered without much thought and probably some research. He loved a good prank, had a quick sarcastic wit and was known to go out of his way for a friend in need.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Rikard in 2012, Maxine Rikard in 2019 and his sister, Lisa Roll in 2023.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Cynthia Allen Rikard, his five sons: Benjamin and wife Tracy of Huntsville, Andrew and Jonathan, both of Fairfield, Nathan of Huntsville, and Zachery, of Fairfield along with grandson Evan, also of Fairfield.
Also are a son (of the heart) Cameron Perry and wife Christina, grandchildren (of the heart) Christian Swischer, and Nadiyana Perry all of Fairfield, brother Mark Andrew and wife Terri of Canyon Lake, in-laws Gynne and Harold Massey of Fairfield, Diane Massey Fryer and husband Hugh of Fairfield, Leslee Allen and wife Jodi of San Angelo, Paul Allen of Fairfield, Lou Ann Massey Humphries and husband Karl of Corsicana and Leslie Brannon Humphrey of Teague, often lovingly referred to as “Wife #2”.
And nieces and nephews: Rachel Carney, Jennifer Felton, Bryan Hall, Lauren Lordman, Katherine Vorontsov, Russell Hall, Jeff Fryer, Aaron Allen, Chris Humphries, Tyler Allen, Caroline Roll, Taylour Moon, Nikki Rikard and Sarah Jones along with 24 great nieces and nephews.
A “Time of Remembrance” will be held on Saturday January 13, 2024 in the FBC Christian Life Center from 2pm until 4pm. This is a come and go time to share memories, laughter, hugs and tears. Light refreshments will be served and eulogy read at 2:45pm.
