Beginning Tuesday, August 25th at 6 A.M. and ending Thursday, August 27th at 6 P.M., FM 27 will be closed near the BNSF railroad between FM 80 North and FM 80 South. This closure is necessary to remove and replace an existing cross culvert with a new culvert. A detour will be set up to direct motorists around the closed area. Portable message boards will also be in place to advise of the closure. Drivers traveling between Fairfield and Wortham, or Teague and Streetman, that utilize this crossing should follow the marked detour, or utilize alternate routes.

The construction of FM 27 will consist of approximately 14.5 miles of rehabilitation of the existing roadway from the Limestone County Line to Caney Creek Relief Bridge and 1.8 miles of widening the existing roadway from Caney Creek Relief Bridge to CR 941. During construction of this 2 year project, drivers should expect delays due to daily lane closures, and slower speeds due to unfinished roadway surfaces.  Knife River Corporation – South was awarded the construction contract for the amount of $14,892,846.02.
