The Colonel worked on the main road leading up to the house, where all the rain had pushed rock off into the side of the road and down into the little stream.  He took the tractor down with the bucket on and pulled up the rock along with some dirt.  He then deposited it on the road.  He worked for a long time.  Long enough that I thought I might be eating supper by myself.  The next thing I knew here he was at the back door with the tractor parked outside the gate.  He said to me, I need your help.  So, I assured him that I would help, just let me get my boots on.  Privately I was so glad I had not gone ahead and started supper yet!

I went out the front door to go to my truck where my gloves were.  Anytime I help The Colonel, I need gloves.  He thought I was going to get in my truck and drive.  Called me over and told me I would be riding the tractor down to his truck.  I stand on the forks when he is driving the tractor.  It seems he was so busy fixing the road that when he got done with it, he hadn’t noticed that the route he had chosen to drive the truck up to the house was under a little bit of water and stuck that truck big time!  He had to walk up to the shop, get the tractor back out and come around to get me.  The truck was down close to the County Road.  He hooked the chains on the truck and the tractor, I guided the truck as he pulled it up out of the mud to where the ground was solid again.  He looked a little sheepish since he always tells me (1) don’t stick the tractor (2) don’t stick your truck!

We have so much fun at the Red Oak Ranch.
