We have some of the most unusual animals on this place called the Red Oak Ranch. We never know what they are going to do next. Last week, The Colonel was feeding “meal” to the herds, the Middle Herd and the Yearling Herd. The only member of the Yearling Herd that was close to the feeder was Tornado, the Bull. The Colonel put meal in the Middle Herd’s feeders and was ready to take some to the Yearling Herd’s feeder.

He drove through the gate, got close to the feeder and he saw Tornado walking out the gate toward the two feeders in the Middle Herd’s area. The gate was opened just enough. Tornado walked to the first feeder he came to and ate from it and then marched on to the second feeder where he ate more. The Colonel wondered how he was going to get him back in the field where he belonged. Tornado is low key, not aggressive at all. A sweet bull that is easy to work, as long as he knows you.

So The Colonel went on about his business and put feed in the Yearling Herd’s feeder. As he turned, The Colonel saw Tornado walking slowly to the gate, through the gate and straight to the feeder in his pasture and started eating from it. The other members of that herd finally made it up to the feeder, The Colonel drove out, closed the gate. When he came in the house, he said, “ the funniest thing just happened”. Wonders never cease at the Red Oak Ranch.
