Last week, sitting on the front porch enjoying the weather and the scenery, The Colonel and I discovered that Stoneshire, the bull, was pulling a First Knight on us. We looked down at the gate, and there he stood. Begging for cubes was his game! The Colonel talked to him and told him we would not be giving him any cubes that day. So, Stoneshire did exactly what First Knight would have done! He moved over to make his plea from another angle. We went on talking as if he wasn’t there, but Stoneshire is not one to give up. He moved over the other direction.

He is such a good bull that it is definitely hard to get upset with him. Stoneshire then tried another trick. He went and got three other bulls and had them standing there with him. I suppose he thought that with four bulls standing at the gate we would give in. We didn’t. The Colonel even asked if he wanted in to graze on some of the grass in the yard. Stoneshire looked down at the barn and we knew the answer was no. He wanted cubes, period.

He eventually gave up on the cubes and walked away with his head hanging low. The old, “woe is me”, will get their attention act didn’t get them either. Feeding time is coming upon us and there will be some cubes given during that time, not a whole lot, but some. Maybe Stoneshire will be happy then. We try to keep everything at the Red Oak happy and contented.
