The Colonel and our granddaughter, Avery, I always call her Miss Avery have been having a wonderful time telling jokes, laughing until their eyes water and sides hurt.

Of course, The Colonel makes up stories to tell also and I am the one who has to call him out because she believes everything he says and when he is telling one of is “stories” I know they are not true! So, when I call him on it, he always says “well, I wanted to say that or do that, as if that is going to make it all right and then we all start laughing. Grandkids are a wonderful blessing and can brighten the days they are around.

Miss Avery loves animals and came down to visit us and brought her boots and gloves so she can help us with whatever we have to do. I am hoping the weather calms down a bit so we can go outside and do some work. She turned twenty (20) this year and is the same sweet young lady she has always been. She baked a Chess pie for The Colonel’s birthday from scratch and it was delicious. We will be sad when she goes back home but will have more memories of her to talk about. The Red Oak Ranch is a place to make memories.
