When I woke up this morning, I thought I must still be dreaming. It was cold, cold, cold in our house. The air conditioner was not running and hadn’t been running yesterday. I looked at the wireless weather station we have and it showed the temperature outside was 45! No wonder I was cold. I couldn’t believe it and wanted to get back in bed very quickly but I didn’t, of course. Once I am up, I am up.

The Beagles stayed in their house until mid-morning. The birds and squirrels were outside though, and I was surprised by that. The Colonel always says he likes this time of the year because it is cool but the sun still comes out. But this morning he told me to get out the mattress pad that heats up and put it on the bed. He must have been cold too.

I am wondering if some of the trees that survived the snow storm back in February will still be able to make it through this winter. Most of them look very good and are filled out but still there is the winter season coming. I am hoping the weather will be warmer than usual like the forecasters are saying it will. But, of course, they don’t really know what the weather is doing until they stick their heads out of the window and take a look. In the meantime, we at the Red Oak Ranch will take it one day at a time.
